Lockport Police, Fire District Open Cooling Centers
The department has designated its community room as a cooling station, and the fire district's station 6 training room is also available.
LOCKPORT, IL — With high temperatures and heat index values over 100 degrees expected later this week, the Lockport Police Department and Lockport Township Fire Protection District are offering cooling centers for residents.
According to a release from the city, the police department has designated their community room as a cooling station, and the fire district's station 6 training room will also be available from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Residents looking to utilize the Lockport Police Department are asked to call the non-emergency number at (815) 838-2131 to speak with a member of the telecommunications staff so that the department can ensure that the facility is staffed. WESCOM has also been advised regarding the availability of the Lockport Township Fire Protection District’s cooling center for area residents, a release from the city says.
