Lockport Police Officer Presented With Life Saving Award

For his quick response and heroic efforts, McDaniel will be presented with a Life Saving Award.

LOCKPORT, IL — A Lockport Police Department Officer will be presented with a Life Saving Award at the upcoming city council meeting on Dec. 19. In November, Officer Dave McDaniel saved a man's life by performing CPR at a grocery store, the city said. For his quick response and heroic efforts, McDaniel will be presented with a Life Saving Award.

The city said McDaniel reported to Jewel Osco in Lockport in response to a call that Dan Cassity was in distress. McDaniel was able to perform CPR and revive Cassity. The city said Cassity recently visited the Lockport Police Department to surprise and thank McDaniel and Lockport firefighters who assisted in saving his life.

Letters of commendation will also be given to the firefighters of the Lockport Township Fire Protection District.
