Lockport Police Release Labor Day Enforcement Numbers

The department made three DUI arrests and issued 45 seatbelt citations during the Labor Day enforcement.

LOCKPORT, IL — The Lockport Police Department announced it made three impaired driving arrests and issued 45 seatbelt citations during the recent Labor Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown.

During the 18-day mobilization, the department said it issued: three DUIs, 45 seat belt citations, three uninsured motorists, 29 speeding citations, four distracted driving, 19 other moving violations, one warrant arrest and one suspended/revoked driver’s license.

“Through the Labor Day enforcement effort, we helped to make our roads safer and spread the
word that preventing impaired driving is a matter of life or death,” said police.

The Lockport Police Department said it joined forces with law enforcement throughout the state for the campaign, ramping up its enforcement efforts from Aug. 16 through Sept. 3 with the addition of 19 different saturation patrols.

The Illinois “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” program is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation with federal dollars managed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
