Lockport Police's K9 Department Enters Grant Competition
Lockport's K9 is named 'Citgo,' and winning the grant could let him win $5,000.

LOCKPORT, IL — Lockport Police Department's K9 Division is participating in the 2017 Aftermath K9 Grant. According to the department, this grant was founded to showcase, support, and reward the unique contributions made by law enforcement and their K9 units across the country. Lockport's K9 is named 'Citgo,' and winning the grant could let him win $5,000.
The department said grant funds will help the K9 program with maintenance, safety equipment and K9 Officer Training. Grant funds would also go toward purchasing new equipment for the K9 vehicle, which helps keep Citgo safe from severe weather.
The voting process begins Oct. 11 and is open to anyone over the age of eight. To vote for Lockport, you can go to the grant's website. Voting will end on Nov. 7.
