Lockport, HG Closings: Winter Storm Brings 6+ Inches Of Snow
Several schools in Lockport and Homer Glen are closed on Wednesday.
LOCKPORT, IL — A winter storm has brought several inches of snow to the area, causing several schools, park districts, village halls and libraries to announce closures on Wednesday.
According to the Emergency Closing Center, Lockport and Homer Glen schools impacted by the winter weather are:
- Homer District 33C, e-learning day on Wednesday.
- Lockport Township High School District 205, e-learning day on Wednesday.
- Taft School District 90, closed Wednesday. The district said it will work to determine the best replacement day within its current calendar.
- Milne-Kelvin Grove District 91, e-learning day on Wednesday.
- St. Dennis School, closed Wednesday and Thursday. The school said in-person learning is closed both days.
The Homer Township Public Library is closed on Wednesday.

The Dellwood Park Community Center is closed Wednesday.
Widespread travel disruptions are possible as a winter storm approaches the Chicago area Tuesday evening, according to the National Weather Service. The heaviest snow will likely hit after 8 p.m. and continue through Wednesday morning, forecasters said.

Winter storm warnings have been issued for La Salle, Grundy, central and southern Cook, and Will counties, in effect from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker has issued a disaster declaration for the state, due to the impending winter weather, the governor announced Tuesday.
Pritzker on Tuesday activated 130 members of the Illinois National Guard to ensure that all state resources are in place to prepare for Winter Storm Landon. Forecasters are saying that certain portions of Illinois could see between 1-2 feet of snow between Tuesday night and Thursday.
