LTHS Board Approves Attendance On Veterans Day
The board held a public hearing about the matter, and decided to approve school attendance on Nov. 11, 2020.
LOCKPORT, IL — Lockport Township High School students will attend school on Veterans Day this year, after a decision from the LTHS board of education Jan. 27.
The board held a public hearing about the matter, and decided to approve school attendance on Nov. 11, 2020.
In his board meeting brief video, Superintendent Dr. Robert McBride said he talked to veterans and veterans groups, and found they were supportive of the decision.

"[Veterans] are more and more supportive of the idea that we're in school, we're holding an observance, we're holding an assembly, we're providing education to our students about the sacrifice of our veterans, about the veterans in our community, about who our veterans are and what they've done for our country in terms of preserving our freedoms," McBride said.
