LTHS Postpones Graduation, Plans Virtual Senior Awards Night

LOCKPORT, IL — For high school seniors, many end-of-year events like prom and graduation have been postponed or canceled due to the coronavirus. Lockport Township High School had already announced it has postponed prom to July, but now it has also shared details about the status of other events which usually happen at the end of the school year.

Several events have been changed to a virtual event, including the senior awards night and final athletic signing day. According to LTHS, the awards night was supposed to be held May 14, but now awards presentations will be held virtually on the school website. The signing day was supposed to be held May 27, but now student athletes will also be recognized virtually.

Seniors were also set to pick up their cap and gowns on May 15, but the school has rescheduled the pick-up to June 1-2, which will also be the same day as the locker clean-out and athletic equipment drop-off.

As Patch reported previously, LTHS' prom has been postponed to July 11, and the senior dinner dance, graduation and senior late night have also all been postponed as well.

According to LTHS, the senior dinner dance has been postponed to July 8, graduation has been pushed to July 18, and senior late night has also been postponed to July 18.

Details have not yet been finalized on the postponed events. The school said the events are subject to change in response to guidelines set by health experts or public officials.
