Man Charged After Burglarizing Cars In Homer Glen: Police

HOMER GLEN, IL — A Chicago Heights man has been charged with felony theft after burglarizing cars in Homer Glen Thursday morning, the Will County Sheriff's Office said. Julian Durden, 25, was booked into the Will County Adult Detention Facility early Thursday and remains in custody.

The sheriff's office said deputies were called to the 14000 block of South Elizabeth Lane in Homer Glen at 12:30 a.m. Thursday. Police spoke to a resident who said while driving home, she saw a man, wearing a hoodie and ski mask and carrying an ice scraper, looking into car windows.

The resident gave a description of the man, and while searching the neighborhood, deputies saw several cars on the street with their doors open, the sheriff's office said.

Police also spoke to a second resident who said her security system alerted her to motion detected near her house. When she looked at the video, she saw the same man on the front porch of her home, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies were able to locate the man, now identified as Durden, on Parker Road near Clover Lane. Durden was in possession of an ice scraper, as well as a utility bill and a credit card that did not belong to him, police said.

The sheriff's office said due to Durden's extensive criminal history, felony theft charges were filed.
