Man Shot In Leg In Lockport Township: Sheriff

LOCKPORT TOWNSHIP, IL — One person was shot in the leg in the 200 block of Nobes Avenue in Lockport Township on Tuesday, according to the Will County Sheriff's Office.

Police said the nearby Fairmont Elementary School was placed on lockdown as a precaution, but the shooting was unrelated to the school. The lockdown was based on the proximity of the incident.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies received a call of shots fired at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday. When deputies arrived, they found a man who had been shot in the leg, and numerous shell casings were also recovered from the scene, the sheriff's office said.

The victim of the shooting is not cooperating with police, the sheriff's office said.

The school will be removed from lockdown as soon as the scene is clear, police said.
