Police Issue 47 Seat Belt Citations During Halloween Enforcement

Police issued 47 seat belt and child safety seat citations, two distracted driving citations and four other equipment violations.

LOCKPORT, IL — Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in Halloween enforcement efforts to get impaired drivers of the roads and more people buckled up. During the Halloween enforcement effort in Lockport, police said they issued 47 seat belt and child safety seat citations, two distracted driving citations and four other equipment violations.

The enforcement campaign took place from Oct. 19 through Nov. 3. Police said extra emphasis was placed on enforcement during late-night hours.

The recent law enforcement campaign was made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
