Providence Student Athletes From Lockport Continue Collegiate Careers
The six students include two from Lockport; Genevieve Peterson and Kaylinn Kundrat.

LOCKPORT, IL — Six student athletes from Providence Catholic High School will continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level, the school said in a news release.
“As always, we are extremely proud of these athletes. They are academically accomplished students who are leaders in the classroom and in their respective sports. We wish all of them the very best in college and in the future, and are excited to see them continue playing at the next level,” Athletic Director Doug Ternik said in a release.
The six students include two from Lockport; Genevieve Peterson and Kaylinn Kundrat.

Genevieve, daughter of Todd and Tamara Peterson, has been recognized for committing to Ave Maria University to continue her softball career on academic and athletic scholarships, the school shared. She plans to major in Psychology. Peterson is a member of St. Joseph in Lockport and a graduate of Oak Prairie Junior High. A member of the honor roll, she has also been involved in the National Honor Society, as well as volleyball, basketball and softball at Providence Catholic.
“Providence prepared me for college by not only challenging me in my studies, but also in sports,” Peterson said in a release. “The teachers and coaches here at Providence push us to be better than we were the day before. The people surrounding me have supported me and helped me want to be a better student and athlete. I am excited for this next step in my academic and athletic journey.”

Kaylinn, daughter of Michael and Jennifer Kundrat, has been recognized for committing to College of Lake County to continue her softball career on athletic scholarship, the school said. Kundrat is a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Parish in Lemont and a graduate of Homer Junior High. She has been a member of the softball team for her junior and senior years, earning an All-Conference designation her junior year.
“The teachers really helped me keep my grades up and if I ever needed help, I wasn't afraid to ask,” Kundrat said in a release. “My coaches and parents have always supported me on the field, and I am excited to play at the next level.”
