Lockport, IL - Saints Dennis and Joseph Catholic Academy (SDJCA) truly pulled out all the stops to celebrate the Blessing and Dedication of the newly renovated floor in the St. Joseph Activity Center - and what a celebration it was.

Marking an unforgettable conclusion to Catholic Schools Week on Saturday evening, January 31, the event transformed their gym into a high-energy celebration complete with a laser light show, a smoke machine, and the dramatic
unveiling of the Academy’s bold Phoenix logo at center court. The excitement reflected not only a new floor, but the renewed spirit and pride of the SDJCA community.

The celebration began with the SDJCA Choir leading the community in the National Anthem. The event was made even
more special by the presence of Bishop Dennis Spies, who led the blessing and officially dedicated the space before he and pastor, Fr. Dan Hoehn, threw out the ceremonial first baskets—a moment met with cheers and applause from Principal, Tom Newton, faculty, staff, students, families, parishioners and friends who were in attendance.

The evening continued with fun, food, and fellowship as families came together to celebrate faith, community, and the shared mission of Catholic education.

“This was more than a facility upgrade,” said Michelle Ray, Director of Institutional Advancement. “It was a celebration of who we are - our faith, our families, and our future.”

From faith-filled prayer to high-energy celebration, the evening perfectly captured the spirit of Saints Dennis and Joseph Catholic Academy.
