Several Will County Preserves, Trails Closed Due To Flooding

​ Preserve visitors are asked to exercise caution as other areas of standing water may exist throughout the preserves.

WILL COUNTY, IL — Several preserves and trails of the Forest Preserve District of Will County are closed on Thursday due to flooding. The preserve said closings include:

  • Lockport Prairie Nature Preserve, located on Division Street, east of Route 53/Broadway Street in Lockport Township.
  • Hammel Woods - Route 59 access, on Route 59, north of Route 52/Jefferson Street in Shorewood.
  • Dog park at Hammel Woods
  • DuPage River Trail at Black Road
  • Section of the Hickory Creek Bikeway in New Lenox and Mokena.
  • Sauk Trail Reservoir, located on 80th Avenue, south of Sauk Trail in Frankfort.
  • Eastern portions of Whalon Lake in Naperville
  • Rock Run Rookery in Joliet
  • Evans-Judge Preserve located on Route 113, south of the Kankakee River and west of Kankakee River State Park in Wilmington.

Updates on the closures will be posted on the forest preserve's website. Preserve visitors are asked to exercise caution as other areas of standing water may exist throughout the preserves.
