Storage Facility Fire In Homer Glen Causes $75K In Damage
Firefighters arrived on scene at 9:25 a.m. Friday and were met with heavy smoke and a fire involving 10 storage units, the district said.
HOMER GLEN, IL — A fire on Friday caused $75,000 in damage to a storage facility in Homer Glen, according to the Homer Township Fire District.
The fire district said it received a call at 9:21 a.m. Friday for a building fire at Sherlock Holmes Self Storage facility, 13708 W. 159th St., in Homer Glen.
Firefighters arrived on scene at 9:25 a.m. and were met with heavy smoke and a fire involving 10 storage units, the district said.

Firefighters encountered heavy steel security doors to each unit that required specialized equipment to gain access before crews could begin fighting the fire, the district said.
Firefighters were forced to attack the fire from two remote locations due to the spread of the fire from the original unit to adjacent aisles, according to the district. Once the fire district gained access, the fire was quickly brought under control.

No firefighters were injured during the fire, the district said. Damage to the contents and structure of the building is estimated at $75,000.
