Student's 'Reckless' Comment Prompts Investigation In Lockport

The student, while discussing the school shooting in Santa Fe, made a reckless comment about school assemblies and the upcoming graduation.

LOCKPORT, IL — Lockport Township High School posted on their website earlier this week regarding a safety concern. The school said LTHS administration was informed that there was a concerning comment made by a student while riding in a school bus.

The student, while discussing the recent school shooting in Santa Fe, made a reckless comment about school assemblies and the upcoming LTHS graduation ceremony to other students, according to the school.

The LTHS administration, staff and Lockport Police immediately began to investigate this incident. The school said a thorough investigation was conducted by administration and the Lockport Police Department and it was determined there is no imminent or credible threat at LTHS.

The school said on its website, "As always, the safety, well-being, and security of our students and staff is our highest priority. Please be assured that we have implemented measures that will continue to provide our students and staff with a safe and secure environment in which to work and go to school."
