Swamped: A Musical About Friendship, Tolerance and Courage

Young School showcases talent

A colorful array of frogs, tadpoles, mosquitoes and dragonflies invaded Young School on March 31 as second-graders proudly performed their swamp-themed musical for friends, families and neighbors.

“We’ve been working really hard,” Young School music teacher Lauren Schorsch told guests as they prepared to perform “Swamped: A Musical for Young Voices About Friendship, Tolerance and Courage.”

Students spent several months learning their singing and, in some cases, speaking parts for the show.

Musical selections included such toe-tapping tunes as “We’re Swamped,” “The Swamp Stomp” and “Just a Little Tadpole.”

Parents were instrumental in the success of the show, encouraging their children to practice and memorize each song at home.
