Aug. 27

  • A man was seen stealing a backpack blower from the landscaping crew at Ace Hardware, 12121 W. 159th St. The man then jumped into a blue, older model, GMC van, and the vehicle drove off at a high rate of speed. There was also a woman as a passenger in the van.
  • Someone broke out the main entrance glass door of Consumer Benefit Resources, 12525 W. 159th St. A Jugendstil sculpture table and a desktop girl with umbrella in wind, an Apple Macbook Pro, a wedding ring, and a folder with documents inside were stolen.

Aug. 28

  • A man was seen smashing the driver's side window of a car at the dog park, 15707 W. 151st St. The owner said she was at the dog park when she saw someone pull up next to her car in a white Nissan Rogue. The man smashed the window, reached into the car, and stole her Louis Vuitton purse from under the front seat. The owner ran toward the man, and he got into his car and sped off.
  • Someone entered a car at Montessori School, 16427 W. 135th St. The woman was walking her child into school when someone stole a tote bag, containing a laptop, key fob and other person items, from her car.

  • Someone drilled out the outside driver's side door lock and entered a truck at Dubois Landscaping, 12649 W. 159th St. The ignition switch of the truck was damaged.

Aug. 31

  • Richard Vody, of Justice, was arrested in the 14000 block of South Hialeah Court and charged with DUI.
  • Matthew Cavanaugh, 22, of the 14300 block of South Heatherwood Drive, was arrested in the 12600 block of West 143rd Street and was charged with operating an uninsured vehicle and DUI.

Sept. 1

  • Deputies saw two people standing in front of Tobacco Express, 14162 S. Bell Road, after they had broken out the storefront window. The two people were carrying a large black garbage bag, which police later found had 36 cartons of Newport cigarettes inside. Deputies tried to track the two people as they ran toward the Old Oak East subdivision. The two dropped the garbage bag, but deputies were not able to find them.
  • Someone stole numerous fur capes, shawls and fur accessories, at least 100 pieces of jewelry, over 60 designer clothing items and 12 purses from a home in the 12000 block of West Oak View Court.
