'WELCOME HOME' Lemon Films Series Throws a Net Over Historic Lockport
Lockport-based Realtopia Real Estate hosts an invite-only screening and reception Saturday night of 'Land of Locks' Welcome to Lockport.
With a keen eye for detail, California filmmaker Michael Fanter captures towns on film that even opens the eyes of its own residents.
Any longtime resident of Lockport knows its rich history, so being “welcomed home” on film might seem a bit presumptuous. The lead sponsor of the premier, Lockport-based Realtopia Real Estate expects those in attendance to enjoy an eye-popping experience from a bird’s eye view to day-to-day ground-level magic.
The curious nature of the invitation to one’s own charming town unfolds on the silver screen Saturday, January 18 when Fanter, head creator and producer at Lemon Town Films, premieres a private screening of “Land of Locks” – Welcome Home to Lockport, Illinois.

“Teaming with local residential real estate experts means we check all the boxes important to people shopping for homes and communities,” said Fanter. “I know local residents will be thrilled to see the features of their own town on the big screen.”
Fanter filmed Lockport himself, literally going around town, utilizing drones for unique aerial views, hand held equipment for residential close-ups and tri-pods for interviews.
“From the initial footage we’ve seen, Michael and Lemon Town have captured the vibrant life of Lockport,” said Ashley York, Designated Managing Broker/Owner at Realtopia. “Our residents love their city and the film will affirm for them why and more.”
According to Fanter, Lockport’s special event “offers a unique opportunity to preview the film and share feedback before the final version is released.”
According to its marketing promotion, the short documentary of 45 minutes “weaves through the town’s historical past, the charm of daily life,” and includes an “adventurous day trip” while also unveiling Lockport’s “ultimate hidden gem.”
“I can’t wait to see our city captured on film,” said York, whose firm was quick to recognize the potential in illustrating the quality of life in Lockport.
According to Fanter, Lemon Town’s “Welcome Home" concept is a captivating YouTube documentary film series that delves deep into the heart of various communities, offering viewers an inside look at the towns they might one day call home or even visit.
Each film episode is meticulously crafted to highlight the unique aspects of a town, including its history, real estate landscape, schools, transportation, unique businesses, attractions, and the dining options.
“I am so excited for our premier as well as the feedback we’ll receive on the cusp of finalizing our Lockport film,” said Fanter. “Capturing the city that ‘Made Chicago Famous’ is exhilarating in its own right and with that comes the weight of great expectations.
“Documenting the city and all it has to offer has been an incredible journey, and capturing the strength and dramatic beauty of the city through stunning cinematography has been a truly rewarding experience.”
According to Fanter each business was unique in its offerings to the community, and every one of them had its own fascinating story of success to share.
Fanter credits the films high quality to professional screenwriters that enrich the narrative with state-of-the art filmmaking techniques, including professional voiceovers, high-quality sound design, vivid animation and immersive music.
“We aspired to collaborate closely with the town, enhancing our narrative with exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes access to add texture and depth that makes up the very fabric of Lockport,” said Fanter.
