Roxy Lockport has several concerts, swing dancing and more planned through the rest of winter. Roxy doesn't handle ticketing, so make sure to contact the event's organizer about any ticket questions.

KidsWork Children's Museum After School Program

Calling all young engineers and inventors! KidsWork is hosting an afterschool program with Afterschool Enrichment Solutions. Two sessions available.

  • Program Details: Let's Build It - Engineering Electronic Snap Circuits After School Program
    • Choice of: January 21–February 11 OR February 25-March 18 (Both programs are the same content, just different date options)
  • Time: 5 to 6 p.m.
  • Cost: $80 per child Grades 1-5

What Kids Will Do: Design, build, and test circuits and electronic projects, learn core concepts of electrical engineering and how electricity works in our daily lives, participate in hands-on STEM exploration through fun experiments. KidsWork Children's Museum Sensory Friendly Playtime

KidsWork Children’s Museum offers Sensory Friendly Playtime twice a month. These dedicated playtimes take place on the second and fourth Sunday of each month from 9 to 10 am.

Sensory Friendly Playtime provides an opportunity for children with sensory, developmental, or other special needs to experience the museum with less stimulation. During these events, lights will be dimmed, certain sounds will be quieted, and guest attendance will be limited as these times are prioritized for our friends who need a more comfortable and accommodating environment. Be a Trailblazer Winter Warmup Meet and Greet

Saturday, Jan. 24, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Hickory Creek Junction
Free, no registration required.

Are you blazing a new trail in your Will County preserves this winter and bumping into other Trailblazers along the way? Then don’t miss the opportunity to put a face with a username at a winter meet and greet. Stop by the shelter to let organizers know what you’re enjoying so far about the 2026 Be a Trailblazer experience. Warm up by the fire while enjoying cookies and a hot cup of cocoa or coffee (while supplies last) and mingling with fellow participants and then blazing a trail of your own at the preserve.

New missions at Hickory Creek Junction will be released the day of the event, and prizes will be raffled off, as well. Forest Preserve staff will be on hand to answer questions about the initiative and help troubleshoot. Those who attend are encouraged to hit the trails with other Trailblazers and make plans to do future missions together. No registration required. Meet at the Hickory Creek Junction Shelter.


Crafting a la Cache: Handheld Habitats

Build a habitat in an Altoids tin at Isle a la Cache Museum from 10:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 24. The event is for ages 5 and older. Free event, register by Jan. 22.

Two sessions will be offered; and an interpretive naturalist will join in to talk about different habitats and environments. All materials are provided.


Wild Child

Enjoy a nature-themed program for kids age 3 to 5. Join a naturalist for hands-on activities, games, stories, crafts, hikes and more. 10 to 11 a.m. on Jan. 30 at Hidden Oaks Nature Center. Kids must be accompanied by a registered adult.

Dress accordingly and be prepared for outdoor activities.

Arctic Animal Coloring Contest

Enter Homer Township Public Library's coloring contest, through Jan. 31, for a chance to win an inflatable penguin. Limit of one entry per child.

Coloring sheets will be put on display at the library.


Creamery Sweetest Reads Challenge

Join the Creamery Sweetest Reads Challenge at the Homer Township Public Library and pick up your reading log. Read 120 minutes to earn a free cone at the Creamery.

Return your log by March 2 for a free voucher. For kids through 12th grade.

The challenge is sponsored by the Homer Glen Creamery. The challenge runs Feb. 2 to Feb. 15.


Romance Trivia

Registration is required. 7 to 8:30 p.m. at White Oak Library - Lockport branch.

A trivia night for all things romance literature, romantic comedies and reality dating shows. Attendees must be 18 or older. Compete in teams of four.


CARE's 12th Annual Seed Exchange

10 a.m. to noon on Feb. 7.

White Oak Library District - Lockport branch has partnered with Citizens Against Ruining the Environment for a free community seed exchange. Bring your surplus non-GMO seeds, and take home new varieties of seeds.

There will also be free seed starter kits, and discussion of the health benefits of gardening.
