Woman, 89, Was Found Dead Outside Victorian Village Apartment In Homer Glen

Police believe the woman had a cardiac event and died outside.

HOMER GLEN, IL — An 89-year-old woman who was found dead Sunday at Victorian Village, an independent living community in Homer Glen, was found outside and may have suffered a cardiac event, the Will County Sheriff's Office told Patch.

The woman, who was a resident at one of the apartments of the community, was last seen on Friday morning, but wasn't found until Sunday, the sheriff's office said. The area where her body was found was near a bench where residents go to socialize or smoke, but it is hidden from view, police said.

“The entire Victorian Village community offers its heartfelt condolences to the family of a resident living in our independent apartments who died suddenly on Sunday, December 18,” said Sheila King, spokesperson for Victorian Village.

"Victorian Village honors the privacy of all its residents and their families. We aret hankful for the support of local authorities. Therefore, Victorian Village is unable to offer further comment at this time," the statement reads.

Autopsy results from the Will County Coroner's Office will take several weeks, the sheriff's office said.

Victorian Village's website said it is a "continuing care senior community"offering retirement living in apartments and town homes. The facility also offers assisted living, rehab, memory care, and skilled nursing.
