2nd Person Found Dead During Homewood Homicide Investigation

Police searching a home in connection with a weekend homicide found a person dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

HOMEWOOD, IL — Developments in a homicide investigation led authorities to a residence in Homewood Monday, where a person was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A woman was found shot to death inside a Homewood residence in the 2400 block of 175th Street on Saturday. She was later identified as Bianca Davis, 51. Her death is being investigated as a homicide.

On Monday, the homicide investigation led Homewood police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force to a residence in the 17600 block of Dixie Highway.

At approximately 6:10 p.m., a search warrant was executed at the residence by the South Suburban Emergency Response Team (SSERT).

Officers made multiple announcements over the loudspeaker for anyone in the residence to step out with their hands up. Those announcements went unanswered, and entry was made into the house, police said.

Upon searching the house, officers located a person dead in a bedroom with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Illinois State Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner were contacted to assist in the investigation.

The identity of the person found dead Monday is being withheld pending notification to the family. There is no additional information available at this time pending the results of the autopsy.
