3 Common Core Changes to Your Student's Reading Curriculum
By now most parents are aware that the Common Core will bring new learning standards to their children’s classrooms, but it isn’t always clear exactly what that entails. In the past we’ve dedicated EduBlog discussion to the updated standards for math, but it’s important to point out that the Common Core changes will affect students in all subject areas. Just as students will be expected to learn new methods and materials in math, they’ll also see a revised approach to the way they’re taught and assessed in reading.
Fortunately for everyone involved, the adjustments to reading curricula won’t be nearly as drastic—or confusing—as the changes to math. And if you know what you’re looking at, they’re actually quite straightforward.
