Man Shot Multiple Times, 2 In Custody: Homewood PD

HOMEWOOD, IL — Two people are in custody after a man was shot multiple times in Homewood Wednesday afternoon, police said.

At approximately 3:15 p.m., Homewood police responded to the 1300 block of Jeffery Drive for a report of shots fired.

Police at the scene found a male victim with several apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was treated by the Homewood Fire Department and transported to an area hospital where he is in critical condition.

During the response to the report of shots fired, officers were provided with a description of a suspect vehicle. Officers located a vehicle fleeing the area that matched the description and followed the vehicle until it became inoperable.

The two occupants then fled the vehicle on foot and were subsequently taken into custody, police said.

The Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating, and additional information will be made available at a later time, police said.
