THURSDAY, DEC. 18
Retail Theft
Marisela Ochoa, 43, 16600 block of Maryland Avenue, was arrested and charged Dec. 18 with felony retail theft after allegedly taking almost $2,000 worth of merchandise on three separate occasions from Target, 17605 Halsted St., according to Homewood police reports.

Natosha Bradfield, 28, of the 700 block of Superior Avenue, Calumet City, was arrested and charged Dec. 17 with felony retail theft for taking more than $1,500 worth of items from the store she worked without ringing them up during customer transactions, according to Homewood police reports.
Between Nov. 9 and Dec. 14, Bradfield, who was a special services associate at Home Depot, 17845 Halsted St., would check out a customer at the customer services desk, remove several items from the cart without scanning them, and the customer would leave the store without paying for them, the report stated. Bradfield did this during six different transactions, totalling $1,648.66, the report added.

DEC. 16
Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of Marijuana
Justin Harris, 24, 15000 block of Kedzie Avenue, Markham, was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a weapon, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding after a Dec. 16 traffic stop, according to a Homewood police report.
Police pulled over Harris around 12:31 a.m., in the 2200 block of 176th Street, after clocking him going 56 mph in a 40-mph zone, the report stated. During the stop, the officer could smell an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle, the report added.
When Harris got out of the car, a small bag containing a green, leafy substance that police suspected to be pot fell to the pavement, the report stated. A search of the vehicle’s glove box also revealed a 9-mm P39 Ruger handgun with nine live rounds in the magazine and one live round in the chamber, the report added.
DUI
John Hopkins, 59, of the 1500 block of Pine Road, was charged with driving under influence, failure to yield turning left and driving without insurance after a Dec. 16 traffic stop, according to Homewood police reports.
Criminal Trespass, Retail Theft
Demarion C. Chambers, 18, of the 17200 block of Halsted Street, South Holland, was charged with criminal trespass and retail theft after being accused of trying to take more than $350 worth of merchandise, including earrings, clothes and Nike shoes, from Kohl’s, 17620 Halsted St., according to Homewood police.
SATURDAY, DEC. 13
Possession of a Controlled Substance
Davnote Mayfield, 21, of the 4100 block of West 186th Street, Country Club Hills, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance after being found with ecstasy during a Dec. 13 traffic stop, according to Homewood police reports.
Police stopped the vehicle Mayfield was riding in around 6:47 p.m., in the 18700 block of Kedzie Avenue, after noticing it was traveling northbound with only one working headlight, the report stated. During the stop, the officer could smell an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the car, the report added. Mayfield, who was sitting in the back seat, and a passenger in the front seat, told police they had smoked pot before getting in to the vehicle.
A search of Mayfield uncovered a small, knotted, plastic bag that contained eight colored pills with a star or a dollar sign printed on them, the report stated. Mayfield told police the pills were ecstasy, and he was taken in to custody, the report added.
Another Country Clubs Hill man in the vehicle—Bryant Cathye, 24, of the 4500 block of Provincetown Drive—was arrested on an outstanding aggravated fleeing and eluding warrant, the report stated.
Retail Theft
Carlotta Weathers, 31, of the 500 block of 70th Street, Chicago, was charged with retail theft after being accused of trying to take two bed comforters without paying from Kohl’s, 17620 Halsted St., according to Homewood police reports.
THURSDAY, DEC. 11
Stolen Tires, Rims
Four tires and rims, totalling about $2,000, were reported stolen Dec. 11 from a car parked in an apartment lot in the 800 block of Elder Road, according to Homewood police reports.
DEC. 8
DUI, No Insurance, Improper Lane Use
Derrick Williams Jr., of the 500 block of Arizona Aveune, Glenwood, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, driving without insurance, improper lane use and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after a Dec. 8 incident, according to Homewood police reports.
Police responded to a call around 3 a.m., in the 1000 block of 187th Street, concerning a car that struck a tree, the report stated. When Williams staggered over to officers, he had an odor of burnt marijuana on him. Police also found a small, clear, plastic bag containing a white, rectangular pill, at the scene, the report stated.
DEC. 5
DUI
Nancy Wilson, 51, of the 1500 block of 186th Place, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, failure to give information after striking property, improper lane use and driving without lights, according to Homewood police reports.
At around 6:50 p.m, Dec. 5, police were alerted to a red Jeep traveling westbound on 186th Place without its lights on and hitting the curb repeatedly. Wilson eventually stopped in the front lawn of a home in the 100 block of Lyn Court before revving her engine and taking off northbound on Lyn Court, according to the report.
Police finally stopped Wilson in the driveway and front lawn of another Lyn Court, the report stated. At the scene, officers noted that Wilson was swaying back and forth, and her speech was slurred, the report added.
Battery
Parrish McEwan, 28, of the 300 block of Merrill Avenue, Calumet City, was arrested and charged with battery after a Dec. 5 incident, according to Homewood police reports.
McEwan and a woman were arguing around 11:35 p.m., outside of Walgreens, 820 183rd St., the report stated. When McEwan tried to put his hands on her, the woman took his state ID and ran toward the store, the report added. McEwan, however, grabbed her, and she fell to the ground, scratching her knees, the report stated.
McEwan’s court date is Feb. 5.
