Best Buy Account Opened With Someone Else's Identity: Cops

Retail theft arrests were made at Walmart, Home Depot, Menards, Jewel and Target over a four-day span in Homewood.

The following information is from the Homewood Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Retail Theft

Frederick Clemons, 60, Chicago was charged with retail theft at 5:39 p.m. on Aug. 29 at Home Depot, 17845 S. Halsted St. Clemons used the self-checkout lane and failed to scan merchandise which valued at $349.

Penny Pearman, 42, Chicago Heights was charged with retail theft at 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 27 at Target, 17605 S. Halsted St. Pearman concealed items and exited the store without paying for the merchandise which
had a total retail value of $99.34.

Toni Lee, Country Club Hills was charged with retail theft at 11:38 a.m. on Aug. 30 at Jewel, 3153 W. 183rd St. Lee concealed merchandise and exited the store without paying without paying for the merchandise which had a total retail value of $112.63.

Joshua Bertrand, 25, Markham was charged with retail theft at 1:01 p.m. on Aug. 30 at Menards, 17545 S. Halsted St. Bertrand concealed items and exited the store without paying for the merchandise which
had a total retail value of $219.97.

Cynthia Velazquez, 36, Steger was charged with retail theft at 1:54 p.m. on Aug. 30 at Walmart, 17550 S. Halsted St. Valazquez concealed merchandise and exited the store without paying for the merchandise
which had a total retail value of $131.79.

Deceptive Practices

Victor Safforld, 47, Chicago Heights was charged with deceptive practices at 7:13 p.m. on Aug. 30 at Best Buy, 17800 S. Halsted St. Safforld opened an account and made a purchase using the personal identification and
information of another person without their permission or consent.
