Former Falcons Soar to Success

Parker's alumni shine beyond their years as Falcons.

A new school year brings fresh pencils and notebooks, excitement, high expectations, and welcoming a new crop of Falcons at Parker Junior High School. Caught up in the day to day we sometimes forget about our former students, focusing on the now. At times, we wonder what are students have become since they left us so many years ago.Recently, the teachers administrators and staff of Parker Junior High School reflected on where our students are now.

 

Mbella Beeska, now a freshman at Chicago Lab School received a 4-year academic scholarship to the school last spring. Mbella plans to play in the orchestra, continue learning French, and shadow some of the finest doctor’s in Chicago during his time at the school. Mbella graduated from Parker as a Gold Honor Roll student receiving a 4.0 grade point average each year.

Matthew Domer, a junior at Mount Carmel, recently ran for over 100 yards on the varsity football team while keeping high grades and making time to visit former teachers and coaches at Parker.

Hannah Cohn, a Freshman at St. Ignatius College Prep, is a member of the school’s varsity cheerleading team. This past summer she attended cheer camp, received A’s in all summer school courses , competed at the Junior Olympics in track and field, and trained for the Chicago Triatholon in which she finished 16th among particpants ages 15-18 years old.

 

Nicholas Wheeler  and Belgee Falkner recently went to the White House with the Chicago White Sox Ace team to meet President Obama.

 

Parker has also been called home by WNBA player, Yinka Sanni as well as Julius Floyd who went on to play in the Arena Football League.

 

Cyanna McGowan earned a spot on the Vaderbilt University cheerleading team while Cyerra McGowan is cheering for Cornell University.

 

Kevin Bayles, a graduate of Parker Junior High School and Homewood-Flossmoor High School is a junior at Augustana College. He continues to shine academically and athletically He recently competed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association tournament, where he made it into the third round. This tournament hosts some of the most talented tennis players in the state.

 

Parker students are not only acheiving at the highest standard today but a hat must be tipped to this tradition of success to Parker’s teachers, administrators, and staff. WIthout the dedication and hours spent on student achievement, character buildling, teamwork and more these students would not be the upstanding individuals they are today.  As a staff Parker Junior High School would like to wish the best in life for all students; past, present, and future.
