Force's Smolka comes through in the clutch, upends Black Widows, 3-1
Samantha Smolka brought home the winning run to give Force the lead in the sixth inning, as Force hung on to beat Black Widows 3-1 on Thursday.
Angela Roberts singled to start the sixth. She then went from first to third on a passed ball. Finally, Smolka came to the plate with the score tied at one, and grounded out, scoring Roberts.
Katie Steinmetz got the win for Force. She allowed one run over seven innings. Steinmetz struck out six, walked one and gave up five hits.

The lone run of the game for Black Widows crossed the plate in the first inning on a solo home run.
It didn't take long for Force to respond as it scored one run of its own in the first. Force scored on an error.
