HF Softball over Lincoln Way Central

HF VIKINGS take out Lincoln Way Central with help from Battle, 6-3

Sydney Battle collected three hits, sparking HF VIKINGS to a 6-3 victory in eight innings over Lincoln Way Central on Wednesday at LWS.

She doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the first and sixth innings.

 

Sarah Burke put together a nice outing. Burke held Lincoln Way Central hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

 

Angela Roberts got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. She allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings. She struck out one, walked three and surrendered six hits.

HF VIKINGS never trailed after scoring two runs in the first on A two-run single by Kasey Neimetz.

One run in the bottom of the second helped Lincoln Way Central close its deficit to 2-1. A solo home run by #17 gave Lincoln Way Central life. Roberts ended the inning by getting #2 to ground out.

After posting one run in the fifth, HF VIKINGS again scored one in the sixth. In the fifth, HF VIKINGS scored on an RBI double by Danielle Werner, scoring Kaitlyn Sherek.

Two runs in the bottom of the fifth helped Lincoln Way Central close its deficit to 5-3. A two-run home run by #15 triggered Lincoln Way Central's comeback. The Lincoln Way Central threat came to an end when Roberts finally got #22 to strike out.
