HF VIKINGS hang on against Lincoln Way North, 8-6

Lincoln Way North was never able to get over the hump and overcome its troubles against HF VIKINGS on Wednesday, as Lincoln Way North fell 8-6 at HFHS after falling behind by five runs in the fifth inning.

Lincoln Way North scored on a sacrifice fly, a fielder's choice, and a walk  in the fifth inning, an error in the sixth inning, and a two-run home run by Jill Galich in the seventh inning. Despite its efforts, Lincoln Way North couldn't get over the hump.

 

Haley Gibbons racked up two RBIs on two hits for HF VIKINGS. She doubled in the third inning and singled in the seventh inning.

 

Sarah Burke got the win for HF VIKINGS despite allowing six runs over seven innings. She struck out three, walked two and surrendered five hits.

HF VIKINGS went up for good in the third, scoring four runs on A three-run double by Gibbons and an error.

HF VIKINGS scored one run in the fifth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the Sixth. In the fifth, HF VIKINGS scored on an error, scoring Kaitlyn Sherek.

HF VIKINGS built upon its lead with two runs in the seventh. A ground out scored Gibbons for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Burke's single, bringing home Jessica Taylor.
