Infant Jesus of Prague Parish and School Celebrates First Communion

On Saturday, May 5, 2012, religious education students of Infant Jesus of Prague Parish and 2nd grade students of IJP School partook in First Holy Communion. The sacred event opened with a procession of first communicants and the hymn, “All Are Welcome.” In his homily, Fr. Mike Nacius reminded the congregation, “Imagine how much greater our world could be if we could all be reminded of the importance of thanksgiving in our lives.”

Preparation and instruction by Religious Education Director, Pat Kahl, Assistant, Mrs. Jeannine DiLuia, Mrs. Mary Cortes, Infant Jesus of Prague teachers Mrs. Martha Deitche and Mrs. Kathy Murphy and Mrs. Gay Essig began long before the event. The communicants partook in a re-enactment of The Last Supper on Tuesday, May 1, 2012. It was a hands-on realistic learning experience for all of the students. IJP Teacher, Mrs. Kathy Murphy said, “Students got to experience the purpose of the Sacrament through the learning experience.”
