Preschool Students Celebrate Apples

Apple tasting give preschoolers a chance to study diversity.

Preschool students at St. Joseph School in Homewood had a busy week last week celebrating apples. The students tasted different kinds of apples including yellow delicious, red honey crisp, and green granny smith. Preschool teacher Mrs. Reilly used the tasting to discuss diversity and how God was kind to give us different types of apples, just like we have many kinds of friends.

At the end of the week, in celebration of Johnny Appleseed’s birthday, the students worked together to make applesauce, helping each other peel the apples and putting them into a crockpot. The next day the entire class enjoyed their delicious creation!
