Students Accelerate in Reading
St. Joseph Parish School Students Accelerate in Reading.

Several students from fourth through eighth grade at St. Joseph Parish School have met their first quarter personal reading goals through the Homewood school’s Accelerated Reading Program.
According to school librarian, Mrs. Carol Zakaras, the Accelerated Reading Program, “motivates, assesses, and manages outstanding and popular literature-based reading. Its main purpose is to enable powerful practice reading to increase comprehension. Students are tested to determine their reading range to optimize their reading growth. Like anything else we learn, the more we practice reading, the better a reader we become.”
