Cahokia’s innovative fusion of religion, social structure, and economy soon gave birth to the “Mississippian” civilization, permanently changing Native American cultures in eastern North America. Many became “Mississippians” themselves. But how did this happen, and to what extent? Dr. Christina Friberg will discuss how a combination of archaeological techniques makes it possible to study these issues and begin to answer these questions.
