The Cancer Support Center will host Chemo-Brain: A Light in the Fog, presented by Becky Johnson BSN, RN, OCN, Nurse Navigator/Survivorship RN, at Palos Community Hospital, on April 11, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at its Homewood location, 2028 Elm Road, Homewood, Ill., and on May 23 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at its Mokena location, 19657 S. LaGrange Road, Mokena, Ill, offered at no charge.
This chemo-brain presentation will help attendees understand why chemotherapy can create fog of cognitive deficits during and after cancer treatments and what can be done to help lift the fog and move forward.
“Often times treatments can cause undesirable effects and ‘chemo-brain’ brings up many life challenges after cancer and it isn’t something we have to be in the dark about,” said Johnson. “Understanding why this may happen, supporting those dealing with it, and learning information on dealing with ‘chemo-brain’ can help us lift the fog.”
