Cancer Support Center's Village Door Consignment Shop To Close, Organization Says
The shop's impact "extended far beyond its storefront, helping raise awareness and support for individuals and families navigating cancer."

HOMEWOOD, IL — The Cancer Support Center (CSC) on Tuesday announced the planned closure of the Village Door Consignment Shop, with operations concluding on December 31.
"After careful evaluation and thoughtful consideration, the Cancer Support Center approved the decision as part of a broader effort to ensure long-term sustainability and sharpen focus on its core mission—providing strength, guidance, and support to anyone impacted by cancer, at no cost," the organization said in a release.
For many years, the Village Door, located at 2019 Ridge Rd., has served as more than a retail space, the organization said. It has been a place of connection, generosity, and community engagement, supported by dedicated volunteers, loyal customers, and generous donors. Its impact has extended far beyond its storefront, helping raise awareness and support for individuals and families navigating cancer.

“This was not an easy decision,” said Kristen Lunsford, Executive Director of the Cancer Support Center. “The Village Door has been a meaningful part of our history and community. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed to its success over the years. As we look ahead, this decision allows us to more intentionally invest in programs and services that directly support those impacted by cancer.”
Over the next several months, CSC will continue operating the Village Door while planning a thoughtful and celebratory transition. The organization will honor the shop’s legacy and the many individuals who have played a role in its success.
