On Wednesday, July 22, 2015, The Cancer Support Center will host a Medical Statistics: What Every Prostate Patient Needs to Know facilitated by Doctor Golden, University of Chicago at its Homewood location, 2028 Elm Road, Homewood, IL 60430, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
After a cancer diagnosis, patients and their loved ones will hear and read numerous statistics about survival and cure rates. But what do these numbers mean? How do they apply to you or your loved one? Using real-life examples, Dr. Golden will explain the basics of medical statistics and what the numbers mean.
In 2014, The Center provided more than 10,700 hours of programming and more than 300 free wigs, scarves and hats to women who were losing their hair due to chemotherapy, demonstrating the need in its communities. Offices are located in Homewood, 2028 Elm Road, and Mokena, 19657 S. LaGrange Road, and the programs are also facilitated at several hospitals and cancer centers in the southland communities. The Center is able to provide these resources to anyone regardless of financial ability because of the generosity of individuals, businesses and organizations.
