HOMEWOOD, IL — South Suburban Humane Society is in crisis, with an influx of animals in the past week that has their facilities filled to capacity.
The humane society—which has an adoption center in Homewood and a facility in Matteson—has taken in nearly 90 pets in the last seven days, filling them to the brim with animals in need of care and adoption, the society posted on social media Monday.
"We're exhausted and we're sure you're exhausted from seeing posts like this but we simply don't know what else to do," staff wrote on Facebook. "In the last week, we have taken in 89 pets and just this Monday morning from 9 a.m. to 10:15 at the writing of this post, 7 dogs have needed to come into our care. Every kennel and every room are filled."
