April 13: Singin’ In The Rain (1952, 103 minutes)
A silent film production company and cast make a difficult transition to sound. Frequently regarded as one of the best musicals ever made - Singin’ In The Rain topped the American Film Institute’s 100 Years of Musicals list and is ranked as the fifth greatest American motion picture of all time in its updated list of the greatest American films in 2007. In 1989, the United States Library of Congress deemed the film “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry.
