Construction Begins at Dolphin Lake Park and Clubhouse in Homewood

The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District is ready to get started on new construction and improvements at Dolphin Lake Park.

The improvements include a complete renovation of the clubhouse, ADA access to all areas of the park, a large shelter, walking paths, a small playground area, improved parking, outdoor classroom, pond overlook, fishing stations and bioswales throughout the park.

The two bioswales will be landscaped with native vegetation and will filter stormwater from the parking lot and other areas along the pond. Interpretive signs will be on site to provide educational information about the bioswales, wetlands and pond.

The clubhouse will be demolished down to the floor and rebuilt. The new space will include two programmable spaces for park district activities. The rooms will open into one large space with a kitchen for programs or activities that require a larger area. The north wall of the building will be constructed of mostly glass and will overlook the lake with access to the wrap-around deck.
