HOMEWOOD, IL - The Homewood Dairy Queen reopened to the public on Friday, just a little more than a month after it sustained significant damage in a fatal car crash. A line formed down the street to welcome the business back to the community after what was earlier described as a "rapid rebuild."
The original facade and design were kept intact in the rebuild.

The Welsh family has owned the Dairy Queen in the 1700 block of Ridge Road for years, making the popular ice cream stop a Homewood institution. After the devastating crash, they thanked loyal customers for their support.
"We are so thankful for the outpouring of love and support from our amazing community," the family wrote on Facebook. "As we are finishing surveying the damage and developing our plan to rebuild, we are thankful for your support. Rest assured we will rebuild and it will be the same community staple that everyone has come to know and love."
