Homewood Dairy Queen Owners Vow To Rebuild After Crash

The Welsh family thanks the community for an outpouring of support following a crash that forced a temporary closure of the Dairy Queen.

HOMEWOOD, IL - The Welsh family, owners of the Dairy Queen that was struck by a car early Tuesday morning, have set their sights on rebuilding the popular ice cream eatery at 1700 Ridge Road. The family said there's been an "outpouring of love and support" from the community since the crash that sent two people in an SUV to the hospital. An updated condition for both victims was not available Wednesday.

"As we are finishing surveying the damage and developing our plan to rebuild, we are thankful for your support," the Welsh family wrote in a statement posted to Facebook. "Rest assured we will rebuild and it will be the same community staple that everyone has come to know and love."

"We will miss you all during construction, but will come back better and stronger to serve you all."
