do something you enjoy

a weekly mindful reflection

(Colin THOMAS)

Dear Reader,

It is important that we care for ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Nap. Take a walk. Read. Cook. Go to yoga. Meditate. Whatever you choose, I hope that you will find some time this week to do something that you enjoy and something that helps you relax.

What will you do to help nurture yourself this week?

Listen | A few weeks ago, I had the honor of sitting down with Sarah Metzger for an episode of her podcast What’s On Your Plate? We spent about an hour exploring (and debunking) some of the misconceptions and stereotypes about yoga. I hope that you will take some time to listen to this episode and others. Sarah is an inspiration.

Try This | I love this time of year because there is an array of delicious, nourishing foods- like squash, apples, and pears- available to all of us. Why not take some time to slow down and savor the act of enjoying the bounty of the season?

The next time you sit down to enjoy a meal, take a moment to observe the vibrant colors and varied textures of the food on your plate. Chew slowly, and focus on how your body feels with each bite. Notice what you taste and where you observe it on your tongue. Take time to more mindfully delight in the act of eating.
