Fallen Soldier's Body Escorted From O'Hare To Hazel Crest
The body of Henry Mayfield Jr., the Hillcrest High School alum who was killed in an attack in Kenya, was escorted home on Jan. 15.

HAZEL CREST, IL — The body of the United States Army specialist who was killed in an attack by an al-Qaeda associated group in Kenya on Jan. 5 was returned home to Hazel Crest on Wednesday, Jan. 15. The remains of Henry "Mitch" Mayfield Jr. arrived at O'Hare International Airport around 12:15 p.m., according to the Hazel Crest Police Department.
An escort involving police cars from several departments followed from O'Hare to the village hall in Hazel Crest, where Mayfield, a Hillcrest High School alum, was from.
Vehicles lined Higgins Road West, I-90 East, I-294 South and I-57 South before coming into Hazel Crest via 175th Street.

Celebrating the life and service of the fallen 23-year-old in Hazel Crest began Tuesday with a yellow ribbon memorial ceremony at village hall. Also, Jan. 14 has been declared Henry "Mitch" Mayfield Jr. Day in Hazel Crest.
