Flipped Lids: 9 Manhole Covers Stolen From Flossmoor Streets
Swiped covers could be connected to similar thefts in neighboring communities, Flossmoor police say.

Flossmoor police are investigating the theft of nine manhole covers throughout the village earlier this week, according to reports.
The manhole covers were taken from the following locations some time between Monday night and early Wednesday morning, the report stated:

- Elaine Court and Baythorne Drive
- 1216 Dartmouth Road
- 1380 Dartmouth Road
- 2240 Carroll Parkway
- 1321 Rosewood Court
- 1323 Rosewood Court
- 1332 Rosewood Court
- Southeast corner of Travers Lane and Hutchinson Road
- 2226 Carroll Parkway
The stolen covers have been replaced at all the locations, costing the village $1,053.09, the report stated.
Investigators also are looking at the possibility that these thefts are connected with other manhole covers snatched around the same time in neighboring communities, said Flossmoor Deputy Police Chief Tod Kamleiter said. The Flossmoor department is working with agencies from Cook County, Chicago Heights, Hazel Crest and other communities as part of the investigation, Kamleiter said.
