Flossmoor Resident Joins American Brain Tumor Association Board of Directors

Jeffrey Smith has won a spot on the organization's board of directors.

Flossmoor resident Jeffrey Smith, a retired HR Executive and senior consultant, in Chicago, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA).

The ABTA was the first and is now the only organization to fund brain tumor research and provide education and information on all tumor types for all ages. Since 1976, the ABTA has funded more than $26 million in research to attract new generations of researchers to the field, support the development of innovative ideas across a broad range of disciplines, and foster collaborate research to improve the lives of people living with a brain tumor.

“Jeffrey brings a wealth of knowledge and professional experience to support the ABTA’s mission to advance the understanding and treatment of brain tumors with the goals of improving, extending and, ultimately, saving the lives of those impacted by a brain tumor diagnosis.” said Elizabeth M. Wilson, MNA, president and CEO, American Brain Tumor Association. “I am pleased to welcome him to the board.”

Throughout his career, Smith has honed his business development and organizational strategy skills that he will lend to the ABTA. He also offers experience with talent sourcing, performance management and leadership development.

Smith’s extensive nonprofit experience includes serving as vice chair, National Give Back for Kids Campaign, serving the Bethlehem Community Corporation Board, and working on church-sponsored community and charity projects.

He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Smith resides in Flossmoor, Illinois
