As COVID-19 continues to threaten Cook County and its reach extends into the south suburbs, the Village of Flossmoor has expanded its contingency plan to continue its protection of Village employees and the public. Village Hall is now closed to the public; however, the Police Department lobby front counter remains open.

Residents are encouraged to conduct business via mail, drop box, email or phone.

Vehicle Stickers and Animal Tags Applications

Village staff will not take vehicle stickers and animal tag applications or renewals in person. All vehicle sticker and animal tags applications must be mailed or dropped off in the Village’s parking lot or Police Department dropboxes. Additionally, the Village is waiving the post April 15 fee schedule (late fees) for the 2020/2021 season and delaying enforcement of the display of vehicle stickers until May 15.

Parking Passes

Daily parking passes are available at the Police Department. Cash only.

Water Bills

Water bill payments may be dropped off in the dropboxes in the Village Hall parking lot (no cash) or the Police Department (cash accepted). Payments can be made online here.

New Water Accounts

Application for new water/sewer accounts will be processed electronically. You can email a copy of the required documents to info@flossmoor.org or drop them off at the Police Department. Find out more about the required documents here.

Building Permits and Inspections

PDF’s of all Building Permit Applications are available on our Permit Fact Sheets and Applications page. If you need a copy emailed please let us know.

Completed applications should be emailed, faxed or returned via U.S. Mail along with any supporting documents (contractor requirements, signed copy of the contract, plat, etc.) and a check with the cost if known. See our Contractor Requirements, Permit Fact Sheets and Applications and Basic Permit Fee pages to help you or call our office at 708-957-4101

If you (property owner or contractor) are faxing or emailing your application, we will contact you when review is complete with the cost of the permit and ask that you send a check (with construction address on check or attached letter) in the mail or in our drop box at Village Hall, 2800 Flossmoor Road.

At this time our system does not support over the phone credit card payments.

We will then fax the completed permit, email a PDF copy of the permit or the permit can be mailed to you via U.S. Mail.

All interior inspections will be delayed except for those involving life-safety issues.

Village Board Meetings and Other Commissions

At this time, Flossmoor Village Board of Trustee meetings are still ongoing as scheduled, but the agenda for each meeting will be expedited and limited to essential business only so as to reduce the amount of social contact between Village elected officials, Village staff and members of the public. This arrangement is subject to change as conditions warrant.

Future meetings of the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals are canceled in light of the ongoing coronavirus concerns. The Village’s Community Relations Commission, Public Art Commission and Green Commission March meetings have been cancelled.

Other Village Services

As a reminder, Village staff will also not be conducting field visits for meter installations, drainage concerns, child safety seat installations and non-life-safety inspections for the time being. Emergency services will continue normally, unless otherwise advised.

Additionally, between now and April 6, while schools are closed and more families are homebound, no water will be shut off. The purchase of daily commuter parking passes will be cash only at the Police Department counter.

“Every organization and business including all units of government have a responsibility to do our part during this national emergency. We recognize that the Village of Flossmoor must provide essential services to our community and we will not let our residents down. Village employees will continue to work to ensure that residents have clean water and fire and police response,” said Mayor Paul Braun. “We realize that other service changes will be inconvenient but are very important and necessary to reduce the risk of virus exposure to the public and our employees so that we can ensure essential services continue to be maintained.”

This is an ongoing situation and the Village of Flossmoor will continually update residents on current safety standards and restrictions.
