Cancer Support Center to Host FREE Virtual Workshop on Transportation

The Cancer Support Center is pleased to announce a series of free virtual workshops focused on transportation assistance, designed to help cancer patients and their families overcome transportation barriers. These workshops will be led by Occupational Therapy Intern Aline Ngouemeta and will provide valuable information on available transportation resources in Cook, Will, Kane, DuPage, and Kankakee Counties.

Cancer patients often face significant challenges with transportation, hindering their ability to access essential medical appointments, support services, and social activities. To address this critical need, Ngouemeta has compiled a comprehensive list of transportation resources, including public transit and ride services to empower participants to navigate their transportation needs with ease.

The virtual workshops will be held on the following dates:

• Friday, March 7th at 11:00 AM

• Friday, March 14th at 11:00 AM

• Friday, March 21st at 11:00 AM

These workshops are a testament to the Cancer Support Center's commitment to providing comprehensive support to individuals impacted by cancer. All programs and services offered by the Cancer Support Center are provided at no cost to participants.

“These transportation workshops are a perfect example of how we strive to remove barriers for our participants. Ensuring they can access vital services is a crucial part of our mission,” said Kristen Kolwelter, executive director of the Cancer Support Center.

“Nobody should have to struggle to receive support, yet many individuals will not have access to helpful resources due to transportation limitations. We are trying to bridge that gap by providing education about realistic free and affordable transportation options so that those in need may have access to resources and support that was otherwise unavailable to them,” said Jason Kieffer, clinical program director at the center.
