The Midwest Motet Society's spring concert is this Sunday--at 4 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Forest--by the way. And it's been a very different concert cycle in many, many ways.
Instead of our usual, very serious chamber choir repertoire, we are singing--and dancing and acting--solos and choruses from operettas. For the most part, we are doing concert versions but will have a few props and several very BIG surprises and unexpected cameos. I have beautiful singers, with beautiful voices and it has been wonderful to work with them on this program...and to let their voices really, really shine!
Cindy Westerman, one of my singers, has written a script tying the solos and choruses together. Beginning with innocent Yum Yum and her very sweet views of love, our program travels through the different ages and challenges of Love--and we have a rip roaring time doing it--until we get to Little Buttercup. We end with a beautiful chorus from "The Merry Widow"...isn't Love grand?
We hope you are able to come...it will be a very special program!
