Glenwood Academy Earns NCA CASI Accreditation

(Glenwood, Ill.) – President Mary Hollie announced that Glenwood Academy earned accreditation from the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), an accreditation division of AdvancED. The accreditation will ensure Glenwood students are empowered with the highest quality education to lead productive and fulfilling lives as lifelong learners and responsible citizens.

“This achievement is a direct reflection of our inspiring learning environment that is led by highly qualified educators,” said Hollie. “Glenwood is not a traditional school and we work diligently to meet the needs of each student and their families. With individualized instruction, our academic program supports children who may have had a difficult educational experience previously- due to large class sizes or lack of resources. At Glenwood, we provide a guide to a path of success.”

NCA CASI provides nationally-recognized accreditation, the purpose of which is continuous school improvement focused on increasing student performance. To earn accreditation, schools must meet NCA CASI’s high standards, be evaluated by a team of professionals from outside the school and implement a continuous process of school improvement.

Dr. Mark Elgart, President/CEO of AdvancED, the parent organization of NCA CASI, stated, “NCA CASI Accreditation is a rigorous process that focuses the entire school on the primary goal of creating lifelong learners. Glenwood Academy is to be commended for engaging in this process and demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement.”

Glenwood’s accreditation comes as the school kicks off its yearlong celebration of 130 years of service. Founded in 1887 by Oscar L. Dudley and Robert Todd Lincoln, son of President Abraham Lincoln, Glenwood Academy is a nonprofit, private learning community for children in grades 2-8. Small class sizes allow students to learn in an intimate and nurturing environment. Students are not only taught core subjects but they also learn resiliency, self-management, and responsible decision making.

“Glenwood Academy’s unique approach to nurturing the whole child leads the charge of what is required today in schools nationwide,” said Colleen Conlan-Carter, Ed.D.,Vice President of Academic Affairs. “From our cognitive learning based curriculum and diverse selection of extracurricular activities to our clinical services program, Glenwood not only educates children but also makes sure a support system is in place to help them succeed.”
