Hastings presents the Village of Flossmoor with $55,000 Grant

FLOSSMOOR -- Senator Hastings presented Mayor Paul Braun of the Village of Flossmoor with a $55,000 grant at yesterday’s board meeting.

The grant will assist in funding the total reconstruction of the Brookwood Bridge deck. An inspection conducted by the Illinois Department of Transportation revealed that the precast deck beams are beginning to exhibit deterioration of the pre-stressed strands.

“Over the years, our roads and bridges have taken a beating due to the weather and normal wear and tear,” Hastings said. “Rebuilding the Southland is something that has been a priority of mine since taking office. This is another step towards making sure that the south suburbs are a place where people want to come to raise a family.”

This grant is a part of Governor Pat Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! plan. “This is a crucial economic recovery initiative that will generate what’s needed most in Illinois: jobs, said Governor Quinn. “Illinois Jobs Now! provides many long-awaited improvements to our bridges and roads, transportation networks, schools and communities.”
